Gypsy-Rose Alcida Blanchard-Anderson, the American author known for her appearance on The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, is expecting her first child. She gained widespread attention after being convicted of second-degree murder for the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, who had subjected her to years of mental and physical abuse. This harrowing story was also adapted into the psychological film Run.
Gypsy announced her pregnancy in a YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant: My Journey So Far”. In the video, she shared the news, stating, “I’m thrilled to confirm that I’m 11 weeks pregnant, despite the rumors that have been circulating for some time”.
She shared, “Ken and I are excited to announce that we’re expecting our first child in January 2025. Although this news was unexpected and unplanned, we are both thrilled to begin this new chapter of parenthood”.
In the same video, Gypsy addressed fan comments that suggested she wasn’t ready for motherhood. She responded, “I understand there will be people who think I’m not ready to be a mother, but I don’t know if anyone is truly ready for that”.
Gypsy became emotional when discussing her new role as a mother, especially in light of her traumatic past with her mother. She stated, “I want to give this baby all the things I wished I had in a mother. I am now a mother myself, and I am committed to being the best mother I can be. I want to provide everything that my mother couldn’t”.
In May, Gypsy Rose discussed her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Urker, in a YouTube video. While serving her prison sentence for her mother’s murder, Gypsy was in a relationship with Urker. They broke up in 2018, before her release in 2023. During her time in prison, she married Ryan Anderson, but that marriage eventually ended. Gypsy then decided to reconnect with Urker. She explained, “It was only after realizing my marriage was over that I felt the urge to reconnect with Urker and spend time with him, as we hadn’t been able to do so while I was in prison”.
The show Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, which began streaming on Lifetime and Amazon Prime on June 3, 2024, will release new episodes on July 15 and July 22, 2024.
